BLOCKCHAIN DATA HUB SOLUTION FOR R-DEE’S INTEGRATED HEALTH IT SUITE

In an era where healthcare intersects with cutting-edge technology, the demand for secure, efficient, and transparent digital healthcare platforms has never been more critical. Radiologex R-DEE aims to revolutionize the medical industry by offering a dynamic ecosystem tailored for the healthcare community. Combining decentralized technology and medical proficiency, R-DEE platform ensures data security, instant peer-to-peer transactions, and easy access to medical products, services, and applications.

WHAT WAS THE TASK?

The primary objective was to create a decentralized storage system for medical files, leveraging the capabilities of Merkle Trie and IPFS to ensure data security, immutability, and efficient retrieval. Alongside this, the project also entailed rolling out a private Blockchain anchored in GoQuorum’s architecture. This bespoke blockchain solution was to be underpinned by a Proof-of-Authority (PoA) consensus, coupled with Blockscout blockchain explorer integration for seamless transaction tracking. A significant aspect of our task within the case was to produce in-depth technical documentation, meticulously detailing the architectural nuances and the pathway to integrate future advancements such as the Dual PoA/PoS Consensus for the private blockchain, HD-ID, and bridge mechanisms. Further, the task encompassed the design and deployment of a dedicated authorization server for both nodes and Blockscout blockchain explorer, ensuring streamlined access and maintaining the integrity of user interactions. Given the sensitive nature of medical data, enhancing security measures was paramount. Therefore, we set out to implement cutting-edge security protocols, alongside establishing a real-time monitoring and logging framework. Finally, to drive utility within the RDEE ecosystem, we were tasked with conceptualizing and rolling out an ERC20 token tailored to RDEE’s specifications, which would also incorporate fundamental ecosystem features like tokensale events and vesting mechanisms.

PROJECT ARCHITECTURE

Radiologex R-DEE platform revolves around a streamlined architecture designed to comply with the nuances of the healthcare domain. Central to this setup is the R-Dee private blockchain, rooted in the GoQuorum’s framework, offering a secure and efficient environment for transactions using a Proof-of-Authority consensus mechanism.

THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

The whole development process consisted of the following stages:

File Proof Storage Module: Developed a secure and easily retrievable storage module for essential files.
Audit Trail Storage Module: Ensured all alterations and interactions with the data are traceable, promoting accountability.
Private PoA Blockchain and Blockscout blockchain explorer: Established a private blockchain network with integrated Blockscout for transparent transaction monitoring.
Security Enhancements: Fortified the system against potential threats, ensuring data integrity.
Logging and Monitoring System: Implemented a real-time monitoring system, capturing all network activities.
Tokensale and Vesting: Created a token ecosystem to fuel the platform’s functionalities and economy.
Our dedicated team for this project included a Tech Lead, 2 Blockchain Engineers, a Backend Engineer, a DevOps specialist, a Designer, a Frontend Engineer, and a Blockchain Architect.

RESULT

Our collaboration with Radiologex led to the successful creation of a robust private PoA network tailored to their needs. Alongside this, we prepared an architecture diagram that holds the potential for an upgrade to a dual PoA/PoS consensus in the future. To enhance network transparency, a Blockscout explorer was seamlessly integrated. Additionally, the introduction of an authorization server via Firebase auth enhanced the platform’s security dynamics. We pioneered the project’s token side by kickstarting the implementation of a tokensale, deploying the bespoke ERC-20 token, and laying the groundwork for future vesting mechanisms. Notably, the decentralized storage system we developed enables the secure saving of files and audit trails in IPFS, with their respective hashes stored in the blockchain, acting as indisputable proofs. In tandem, we’re in the process of setting up an exhaustive monitoring and logging system for the network, ensuring its smooth operation and rapid issue resolution.
